John Hollis Presko passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, at Strafford Care Center.
John was born on September 11, 1945, in East Chicago, Ind., to John and Violet Presko. He grew up in southern California where he went to high school and then to college, graduating from Pacific Christian College (now known as Hope International University). He also attended Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO.
John served in ministry for 52 years in several states including: lead minister at Thayer Christian Church in Thayer, Kan. (twice); lead minister at University Christian Church in Norman, Okla.; lead minister at Christ's Church of Oronogo in Oronogo, Mo.; evangelism minister under Wayne Smith at Southland Christian Church in Lexington, Ky.; and short ministries in Oklahoma, Illinois, Arizona and California. His final two ministries were at Victory Christian Church in Lancaster, Ky., where he was the founding minister for 10 ½ years and at Tates Creek Christian Church as the Senior Adult Minister. He retired from vocational ministry on July 31, 2012 and then moved to Springfield, Mo to be near family in November of 2016.
His loves were Jesus, his wife, the Word of God, the church, his family, ministry, Fitz his cat, gardening, collecting license plates, baseball, Kentucky Basketball and Oklahoma Football.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Violet Presko, and his brother-in-law, Abbott Paine. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Lanoue) Presko; two children, John William Presko and wife Brenda of Fair Grove, Mo., and Katrina Presko of Springfield, Mo.; sister Linda Paine of Highland, Calif.; nephew Stephen Paine of Redding, Calif., nephew Gary Paine and wife Kim of Quarryville, Pa.; niece Allison (Paine) Kuhlman of Lincoln, Neb.; and grandchildren John Paul (JP) Presko, Brooklyn Presko and Becca Presko of Fair Grove, Mo.
