John Henry Childress was born in Wichita, Kansas on June 16, 1942 to Jack and Berniece Childress. John Henry (Hank) passed away on October 14, 2025 and presently is at rest with Lord Jesus in heaven. Hank lost his father Jack in 1956 and his mother Berniece in 2008. He is survived by his sister Lynette J. Johnson in Oklahoma and his sister Leta Jean Rahn in Springfield, Missouri.
Hank, at the age of 18 left home in Wichita to live in California to serve in the Air Force for 4 years. Hank spent 60 years in California doing various jobs. In 2019 he moved to Springfield, MO to live close to his sister Jeannie and brother-in-law Phil Rahn. He joined Orchard Crest Baptist Church where he worshiped God for 5 years.
A Committal Service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
