He served 2 years in the Army then returned home to the farm and his family. For several years he maintained a flock of leghorn hens and sold hatching eggs. He milked cows for the milk, and sold seeds grown on the farm to many area farmers during the 50s and 60s. He began a farming partnership with his son, Steven, in the late 60s and they continued growing and selling cleaned seed wheat and red clover seed until his retirement. They sold hay and raised beef cattle and hogs. John was a good farmer and took great pride in growing field crops. His favorite crop to grow and harvest was wheat. John maintained a large garden for the family as long as his health permitted.

I was so sad to hear of John’s passing. He, Ruth & my parents were in the same Sunday school class starting as young married couples. John always greeted me with a smile & hug. John will be missed by everyone who knew & loved him. Unfortunately, I have other obligations & unable to attend John’s visitation or celebration of life. Until we meet again in Heaven ❤️

I was so sorry to hear of John's passing. I had known him all of my life. John and my Mother graduated from Bolivar High School together and remained very good friends until her passing in 2018. He was always so kind to me and we enjoyed visiting about Bolivar School Board business. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
