Randy began his earthly journey on March 9, 1948, and it ended on July 17, 2023.
He was born in Monett, MO to John L. Dunlap, Jr. and Verah (England) Dunlap.
He attended Seligman Elementary and then Southwest R-V for High School.
Upon high school graduation, he attended Missouri Southern (Junior College) for 2 years. He then transferred to Southwest Missouri State, where he received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Specialist’s degrees in Education.
After completing school at Missouri Southern, he married his forever love of 55 years, Peggy Hall. They had one daughter, Mindy, and one granddaughter, Dani.
His lifelong dream was to be an architect, which he accomplished through apprenticeship and passing the State Board Exams.
He started his career as a draftsman at Hood-Rich Architects and Engineers. From there he went to work at SMS/MSU in Design and Construction for 30 years. After he retired from MSU, he went to work for the City of Springfield for 12 years and then concluded his working career at City Utilities for 1 year and a half.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Verah Belle Cargile, his father, John L. Dunlap, Jr, and his step-father, Homer Cargile. He is also preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, and granddaughter.
If you knew Randy, you knew fishing was his favorite pastime. He enjoyed being on the banks at Roaring River every March 1st, the Opening Day of Trout Season. You could also find him in a boat running up and down Stockton or Table Rock Lake.
He was a longtime member of Sunset Church of Christ, where he gained many friends.
