JOHN W. VAN BIBBER

John was born on August 20, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was the son of John Howard Van Bibber and Della Maria Todd Van Bibber.

He attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE majoring in Pre-Law and studied Criminology at the U.S. Marine Corps Institute in North Carolina and Washington D.C. John served in World War II in the 5th Marine Division, 26th Marine Regiment as a machine gunner and a Military Policeman during the Japanese Occupation. He was Honorably Discharged in 1946. John went on to become one of the finest salesman and manager who traveled all over the United States. He moved to Springfield, MO in June, 1972 and retired in 1989. John had a heart of gold who would help his family, his friends and strangers alike without a thought time after time. John was loved by many and he will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on.

John is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann Deeds Van Bibber and his second wife, Regean C. Van Bibber. He is also preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

John is survived by his three daughters, Jolynn Szesny, Shelley Gates and Lisa Williams and three grandchildren, J.P. Szesny II, Michele Burk and Christopher Gates and two beautiful twin great-granddaughters, Emma Rose and Ellie May Gates.

No Memorial Services will be performed per John’s wishes. Cremation will be conducted by Greenlawn Funeral Home with full Military Honor burial at Rivermonte Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, John would like contributions to be given to the American Heart Association.
