Johnie Lee Thomason, 86, Springfield, MO. passed away Friday, December 15, 2023, in Springfield, MO. He was born on November 24, 1937, in Alpena, AR to Bert Hayes Thomason and Della Mae (Binam) Thomason. Johnie attended Alpena High School, graduating in 1957, he then attended Draughon Business College, graduating in 1958. He was a retired Parts Manager, for International Harvester. He was a great example of a loving father and husband. He was a gentleman and a handyman extraordinaire. He was always ready with a joke or a saying for any situation. He was a member of the Happy Plunkers Ukulele Band, in Springfield, MO. He loved fishing, watching old westerns, and always fixed anything that needed to be repaired.
Johnie was preceded in death by his parents, Bert Hayes and Della Mae (Binam) Thomason, an infant sister Mary Evelyn Thomason and his daughter-in-law: Vicki Lynn Higgins-Thomason. Johnie was united in marriage on November 19, 1986, to Beverly Jean (McQueen) Thomason, in Miami, Oklahoma she survives him, of the home. He is also survived by his son: Terry Lee Thomason and his wife, Shawna Thomason, son: Tony Lynn Thomason and daughter: Retta Kaye (Thomason) Ramey, his step-daughter: Sheryl Ann (Saltzman) Fleetwood and her husband Wayne Fleetwood, nine grandchildren: Laura Thomason, Andy Thomason, Danica Gotmer, Dan Hall, Danielle Urbaniak , Ean McPherson, Shayna McPherson, Nicholas Ramey, and Nathaniel Ramey, great grandchildren: Emory Thomason, Thessaly Thomason, Kieran McPherson, and Ann Daniel, Samantha Riley, Andrea Powell, Levi Powell, one brother: Bertie Ray Thomason and his wife, Rosemary, and his nieces: Suzie Pellecchia, Melissa Orrell (recently deceased), and Amy Dahle-Melsaether.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Cox Medical Center South for their excellent care of Johnie.
