Just learned of John’s passing! My future wife (Sharon Withers) and I first met John at Hillcrest and found him to b one of the ‘good guys’. John treated everyone the same, always kind and friendly to everyone. After graduation we lost track of him but round 1984 I was working in Billings Mt. and was on a business trip. When boarding the plane home I stuck my head in to say hi to the crew and when the pilot turned around there was John. After arriving in Billings I took him to see Sharon and we spent the evening together . I lost Sharon in 2020 and I’ve thought of that time we had many times. I know he and Sharon are with the Lord and hopefully they’ve had a chance to catch up. My prayers are with you and your family.

I was hired by Jon at Flexjet & enjoyed working with him. He had a wonderful sense of humor & cared deeply for all of us. I had the privilege of flying with Jon in the Challenger. Jon was truly a class act! He will be missed by many whose lives he touched. Tailwinds, Jon.
Mark & Stephanie Rice left a message on May 21, 2024:
Both Stephanie and I had the privilege of working with Jon for many years. He was one of the funniest guys we’ve ever met. His sense of humor was infectious and a joy to be around. We feel lucky and blessed to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Carrie and the rest of the Walegir family. Jon, you can rest easy knowing that you’ve earned your last set of wings and no further training will ever be required to keep them.

Jon hired me to be a pilot with Flexjet. When I took a position in the office we worked side by side for around 7 years. He was a wonderful friend and mentor to me. I’ll always treasure knowing him and will miss him greatly.

Though my stay at Flexjet was brief, it was enrichened by the ability to work with and get to know Jon Walegir. He was loved and appreciated by loyal pilots he brought aboard and supported at Flex. My sincere condolences to Carrie and his family. Jon & you are in my prayers.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I was one of those lucky enough to be hired by Jon to be a pilot with Flexjet. We had some great times there and really miss working with him. He will surely be missed! Hope you have a tailwind on your journey West!
