Thomas Ross left a message on August 29, 2022:
Joe was the type of friend that would drive over one hundred miles one way to help his buddy whose car broke down in the middle of the Arizona desert…on a Friday evening…only to find out the car could not be fixed right then and there. So, Joe drove his friend (me of course) home (well over a hundred miles again, and now around 2AMish) only to pick him up the following day, once again drive over a hundred miles to fix the car. Through the ebbs and flows of our friendship, we spent many hours laughing, arguing, and having many adventures. As we got older, Joe settled down to being a family man. He seemed to thrive off being surrounded by people and loved to entertain his guests and friends with extended conversation. Joe was more like family than a friend, time could pass, and picking up where we had left off was no issue. There are many stories I could tell of our adventures, but I think I will selfishly keep them to myself for the time being as I mourn the loss of my friend, my buddy, and my brother.

Joe was not only a colleague but also a true friend. Working with him was like working with a brother. His approach to life and work was always inspiring and his views were sometimes hilarious. He was a very proud husband and father and spoke often of his family. He loved what he did for a living and sharing with others his knowledge and on occasion a pearl or two. I will miss him and our long conversations over many topics of family and life. I wont say goodbye, just, see you later my friend. Penny and family you have my prayers during this time.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Uncle Joe as we call him, always makes himself available to help us even though he too, has many tasks to attend to. He’s just a call away when we need guidance and he gives the best feedback when we ask him to check our work. In fact, it takes me hours and one time, days to revise a course. That’s how caring he is – he challenges us and wants us to be a better version of ourselves. If not for him, I would not have been with the L&D team. He saw what I have in me that even I didn’t know I have – the ability to write and be an Instructional Designer like him. Prayers for him and his family during this time.

Joe has been my inspiration and motivator in every way imaginable. He believed in my abilities, treated me comparatively, and made me feel as if my skills were on par with his (but we all know he is the standard and will always be!) I remember being nervous during my interview. I was tense, but when he started talking about programming, Adobe Creative Cloud stuff, his experiences in the academe, and the way he spoke to me with vibrance, it was reassuring, and he was one of those who made me look forward to working with NovaSource's L&D team knowing I could learn so much from a pro. I never met him in person (which the team here in the Philippines was looking forward to), but his guidance and our conversations on random calls when I needed help on something will be greatly missed. It was an honor and a pleasure to have worked with you. You have had a significant impact on my professional career! Rest in paradise, Uncle Joe!

Badet Torente - It has been raining all day here in the Philippines. Heaven must be crying with us as we receive heartbreaking news that our dear Joe has passed. When it comes to ID (Instructional Design), Joe has been our go-to expert. All of us have learned a lot from his years of wisdom and experience, and we'll always remember the lessons he's given us. The opportunity to work with him is something I will always treasure. Condolences to his family.
