Rev. Betty Hoover Dossey left a message on June 17, 2023:
Dear Pastor Rose, Please allow me to offer my condolences in the passing of your beautiful wife. I have such fond memories of both of you from the Newton church. I was saved under your ministry at 13. You were the first pastor I ever knew. I remember Sister Rose accompanying me in a school program. She encouraged me to use my talents for the Lord. I know you will miss her greatly. Praying the Lord will be near you during this time of deep sorrow. May God hold you in HIs loving arms. Pastor Betty Hoover Dossey Rose Hill, Kansas Faith & Family Worship Center.
Keith Hatfield left a message on May 4, 2023:
Joy, thank you for pouring into me and many others during your time with us. You will never know the gift of confidence and self-esteem that grew in this shy kid by allowing me to participate in adult church services via my piano solo offertories, our piano/organ duets, congregational singing, holiday choir specials, and accompanying the Trinity choir. Thank you for encouraging, mentoring, and believing in me. Who could say no when Joy asked you to do something? She mastered the art of persuasion. My best memories are when Church was Church which include working with you. You gave your best to the Master in everything you did. Your choir musicals were legendary mixing artistic mediums of music with thoughtful prose, costumes and sets, drama, and projected visuals on silk screen. Today’s Friday night top 10 “worship night” performances fall flat when compared to those Sunday night altar services with you at the organ and Pastor leading impromptu worship. Thank you for ushering us into the presence of God with your rousing musical interpretations and arrangements including the choir opener Blessed Assurance. Thanks for the soundtrack of memories. I visualize you graciously accepting “Well Done” from the Father as you are escorted to your place in Heaven’s choral grandstand. Pastor Rose and family, may the memories of Joy comfort and sustain you as you reflect on her life well-lived.
