Joyce Marie Johnson, age 91 of Bolivar, MO, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at Citizens Memorial Hospital Bolivar, MO.  She was born July 16, 1931, in Bolivar, MO, to Jesse Ray and Verbal May (Hale) Higginbotham.  She was united in marriage to Lee Roy Johnson April 8, 1950.  She was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church.

          Joyce was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and a great friend.  She enjoyed reading the Bible, playing cards, putting jigsaw puzzles together, and an occasional tea in the afternoon with friends. 

          Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lee Roy; a daughter Vera Mae Roach; a son Clifford Johnson; three siblings: Marsade Jones, Roy Higginbotham, and Silvia Fred.

          Joyce is survived by a son Earl Johnson (Cindy) of Stockton, MO; a daughter Janie Gwin (Marvin) of Marionville, AR; 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren; two brothers: Charlie Higginbotham (Virginia) of Wathena, KS, and Coy Higginbotham (Lou) of Elwood, KS; two sisters: Peggy Rummel of Humansville, MO, and Judy Curry of St. Joseph, MO; a son in-law Chuck Roach of Sedalia, MO; a daughter in-law Dale Hickman of Woodward, OK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

          Visitation will be held Monday, June 12, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Pitts Chapel.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Lindley Prairie Cemetery Bearcreek, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.  Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
