Judy Kay Manning, age 76, of Springfield, Missouri, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face at 1:00 am on April 1, 2025, at the Marshfield Care Center. Judy was born to Charles Lloyd and Ruth Ellen (Carl) Daugherty on January 16, 1949, in Springfield. Judy was raised in Springfield and attended Central High School. She was united in marriage to Gordon Rex Manning on June 29, 2006, at Fender Chapel in Brighton, Missouri. The couple shared sixteen years of marriage before Gordon’s untimely passing on February 9, 2022. Judy was blessed with three sons, Kenny, Lloyd, and Robert.
For many years, Judy proudly owned and operated White Dove Cleaning, LLC. Over the years, she cleaned countless churches and businesses in the Springfield area. She was a faithful member of Golden Avenue Baptist Church where she loved to attend with Gordon, worship, and serve alongside her brothers and sisters in Christ, especially at Life-builders Villa Marie. Judy enjoyed providing physical and spiritual food to those in need. Judy was known for her signature dish, smoked jerk pork and coleslaw. Her homecooked recipes were always a favorite at church pot-luck dinners, special events, and family gatherings. Judy and Gordon were talented seamstresses and, together, they donated many quilts through the years.
Judy and Gordon raised Gordon’s youngest daughter, Kimmy. They loved hosting Christmas Eve family gatherings in their home and always enjoyed celebrating the holidays throughout the year. Judy was known for being an excellent cook, baker, and candy maker. Her homemade candies and confections were beyond delicious. Judy loved her family beyond measure and especially enjoyed being a grandma. She even had a lot of fun playing red light-green light with her great-grandchildren while in her wheelchair. Judy was a fan of Hallmark movies, talking to her Golden and house Finches, and falling to sleep with Gordon while listening to gospel music.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Daugherty; six sisters: Betty Irene Matherly, Evelyn Louise Daugherty, Roselyn Jannet Daugherty, Carolyn Sue Daugherty, Mary Ann Daugherty, and Lena Mae Tiger; four brothers: Charles Leroy Daugherty, Lloyd Edward Daugherty, Leroy Garfield Daugherty, and Paul Wayne Daugherty; eldest son, Kenneth Fay Colvard, Jr.; and stepson, John Arthur Manning.
She is survived by one sister, Linda Mings and her husband, Wallace; sons: Lloyd Thomas Colvard and his wife Jamie, Robert William Colvard and his wife Dana; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Colvard; stepchildren, Tina Manning, Emmi Knight and her husband Bill, Halle Connors and her husband Jacob, and Kimberly McClanahan and her husband Bryan; and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Judy will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she so joyfully touched.
A memorial visitation for Judy will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 am, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A Celebration of Life service will begin immediately following the visitation. After her service, Judy will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gordon, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
