Katelyn Marie Bolls, 24, passed away peacefully in her sleep after complications with pneumonia on Friday, March 10, 2023. She was born in Springfield, MO on April 8, 1998 to Julia and Kenneth Bolls. She had just begun her career as an Occupational Therapist at Blue Bird Northcenter in Chicago, IL. She had graduated with her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy from Saint Louis University in 2022 and was a graduate of Springfield Catholic High School. She enjoyed learning, reading, working on puzzles, tinkering, traveling the world, summer at the lake, and spending quality time with her friends and family. Katie had a loving warm soul and an adventurous and independent spirit. She was a quiet curious observer of the world around her and she greeted it with a smile and positive attitude. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, David Wieland. Katie is survived by her parents: Ken and Julie Bolls, her three siblings: Margaret Moore (Sam), Thomas Bolls, and Emily Bolls, her grandparents: Antonia Wieland, Dixie Phelps, and Dale and Pat Bolls, and her nephew and god child: Hunter Moore, and niece: Victoria Moore. She had many aunts, uncles, cousins, and wonderful friends.

A funeral mass for Katelyn will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at St. Agnes Cathedral with interment following at Maple Park Cemetery. A rosary will be at 5:00 pm Monday, March 20, 2023 with visitation following at 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Katie’s advocacy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Happy birthday to sweet Katie…I’ve been thinking of her all day today. I know she is resting in wonderful peace, and I rejoice in her memory and that I was able to know her.

I am the OT at the clinic where Katie worked as a tech during college. It is a busy, hectic job and Katie was full of smiles and joy no matter what the day brought. She always was so excited to talk about OT school. It is so difficult to think that she had just begun to achieve her goals and become that awesome OT she wanted to be. I’m glad I was able to meet her. She had a wonderful spirit. My God give your family the grace and strength to live well in her memory.

I can not say how shocked and saddened I am to hear about Katie. It was such a joy and privilege to care for her over the years and watch her grow into the beautiful young woman she became. I am so very sorry for your loss and will be praying for your comfort.
