Kathryn Maurine Lawson, 93, of Fair Grove Missouri, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, a day before her 94th birthday. She was born to Keith and Bessie Brigance on November 28th, 1930, the 4th of 10 children.
Kathryn is survived by her children Janice (Rick), Judy (Kelly), and Heather (Cliff),her daughter-in-law, Pam. her brother, Doug, 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters; Betty, Sue, Bertha, and Bertie and her brothers; Bud, Bob, Delmar, and Danny; her husband Leon, and her son, Ken.
She graduated from Fair Grove High School in 1948. The same year, she had her first date with the love of her life, Leon Lawson, at the Alumni Banquet. They went on to marry and celebrate their first date by attending the Alumni Banquet at Fair Grove High each year.
Kathryn was a homemaker and stayed busy sewing, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and canning. For many years, her sewing group would provide a quilt for the Baptist Children’s home auction. She has made quilts, crocheted blankets, dish clothes, Christmas stockings, and embroidered tea towels for many family members that will be cherished for years to come.
She was a longtime member of New Hope Baptist Church and when she was able, was there every time the doors were open. She spent many years teaching Sunday School, and helping with VBS. She sang in the choir with her beautiful soprano voice.
She will be missed by all, but her family takes comfort knowing that she has been reunited with the love of her life, Leon, and her beloved son, Ken, along with so many family members that have gone before her.
Visitation and Funeral service will be Sunday, December 8th. Visitation from 1-2 with a Funeral service to follow.
