Larry Allen Archer passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 in Springfield, MO. Born on July 11, 1944 in Cabool, MO, he was the son of George B. and Seattle Virginia (Honeycutt) Archer. Larry grew up in Cabool MO. Larry attended Barber School after graduating high school, and owned a barbershop in Cabool. After moving to Springfield, MO, in 1980, Larry drove a truck for Mid Am, and later O’Reilly until 2003, when he retired.
Larry married Beverly Jean Riggins in 1964. To this union was born two sons, Russell Allen Archer and Martin Jay Archer.
Larry most enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, and collecting all the things. Larry loved his family. He delighted in beating his boys in pool, shooting his guns, swap meets, and attending family get togethers. Larry always arrived at least two hours early, with a cooler of old fashioned soda pop in tow. He would often entertain with a round of “Doo Dad Boogie” on the piano. Larry’s grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved playing with them, and attending their functions and sporting events. Each Christmas, he would show up with a large trash bag of toys from “Santie Claus”. He was the best Pepaw. Larry loved tinkering around his land, cutting his own wood, and caring for his beloved cats. Larry was a wonderful Dad, father in law, and Pepaw.
Larry is survived by his sons, Russell A. Archer, Springfield and Martin (Marty) J. Archer (Kristi), Springfield; granddaughter Chloe O. Archer, Springfield; grandson Jonah M. Archer, Springfield; two brothers, Jerry Archer, Cabool and Galen Archer, St. Louis; lifetime companion, Beverly J. Archer.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tommy Archer, Raytown MO.
A visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield MO, Friday, April 26, 2024 from 11am to 12pm.
