Lawrence “Larry” Austin O’Leary Jr. was born on May 30th, 1937 and passed away at home on October 17th, 2021. Larry was raised on the family farm in Truesdale, Iowa and attended grade school and graduated high school there. He was employed by Dlugosch Motors in Storm Lake, and later went to work for Sieg-Fort Dodge Co. Automotive until 1978. At that time he and his wife and youngest daughter moved to Willard, Missouri to escape the cold Iowa winters. After several more years in the automotive after-market business, he changed careers and began selling candy and tobacco products. He retired from Osborn Wholesale in 2006. After retirement he enjoyed having daily coffee with the “boys”.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis and his daughters Tamela (Marlin) Corson and Sherri Adams. He also leaves behind his two grandsons Thomas Heyl and Corey Adams. Also mourning his passing are his older brother John (Mary) O’Leary and his younger sister Linda (Carl) Roxberg, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Mary O’Leary, his older sister Mary Agnes (James) Flanigan and his younger sister Patricia. His youngest daughter Rhonda Heyl passed before him in 2008.
Graveside services will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, November 1st, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank the staff at Springfield Rehab Center and Seasons Hospice, especially Ginna, Laura, Stacy, Lisa, Brian and Sabrina.
