Layne Harding Swan, 47 of Ozark, MO, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at Cox Health Medical Center, in Springfield, MO. Layne was born on January 11, 1976 in Pensacola FL, to Lyndell Roy and Jeanne (Clarke) Swan. He was a 1994 graduate of Ozark High School. Layne worked for Audubon Field Solutions, as part of the Survey Crew, he was a hardworking and dedicated employee, he and a friend as a partner were enterprising young men starting a business as early as 8th grade. Layne was very patriotic and loved the Lord with all his heart. He will always be remembered as a good and loving dad, son, brother, and friend, he never met a stranger and easily made friends. He loved driving fast, old muscle cars, and sports. He was an avid fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Florida Gators; he was excited about Luke learning to wrestle. Layne loved physical challenges and strived to be “the best” in everything he did. Layne loved art and music, his family appointed him with the title of the “Human Jukebox” he was also known to his family as “ Layne The Pain”. He was very competitive with his brother Shayne to see who had the better football team and larger TV. Survivors include his son, Luke Bryan Swan, Lebanon; step daughter, Riley Kirby, Springfield; brother, Shayne Swan, Springfield; father and step mother, Lyn and Janelle Swan, Oxford, AR; and many family members and friends. Layne was preceded in death by his mother and paternal grandparents. Through Layne’s passing, and organ and tissue donations, he gave the gift of increased quality of life to many.
A visitation for Layne will be from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 West Battlefield, Springfield, MO. A celebration of Layne’s life will be at 1pm, Thursday, July 27, 2023 in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 West Battlefield, Springfield, MO, with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 3506 North National, Springfield, MO.
