Linda Kay (Wood) Collins was born March 15, 1953, in Marionville, MO to Ralph Edward and Clara “Ethel” (Pendleton) Wood. She passed on from this life suddenly on July 24, 2024. Linda graduated from Marionville High School in 1971, then began a career in the insurance industry after finishing business college. She experienced great satisfaction working in her career, spending most of it alongside her husband, Bob, stepson Warren, and other relatives in their family-owned agency Land O’ Lakes Insurors in Springfield, MO. Continuing her professional education, she became a Certified Insurance Service Representative and a Certified Insurance Counselor, specializing in commercial insurance.
Linda married Robert (Bob) Lowell Collins in 1983 and was widowed when Robert passed in 2013. She is also predeceased by both parents, her brother Ralph Edward (Eddie), and her step-son Warren Robert Collins. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Jane Elizabeth (Abbott) Collins, her grandsons Alexander Robert and Davis Warren Collins, her sister-in-law Marcia Wood, nieces Nicki (Wes) Fizer, Crystal (Troy) Morehouse, and Valerie (Jeremy) Campbell, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, and many other dear relatives and friends.
Linda was a joy-filled and loving person who always had a smile, and kind and encouraging words for the people in her life. Her dachshund, Sam, held a special place in her heart for the 17 years of life they shared together. Linda loved being a grandma to Alex and Davis and found happiness in spending time with her extended family and many friends. She was a member of Glendale Christian Church and found great comfort and fulfillment in her Christian faith and fellowship. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held at Greenlawn East funeral home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 5-7 pm, with the funeral service to be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Rivermonte Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pet Therapy of the Ozarks, or your favorite charity.
