Linda Sue (Hood) Ware, 77, of Polk, Missouri, passed away after a brief illness with her family beside her, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. Linda was born on December 28, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri, to JL and Charlene (Keith) Hood. She was a 1965 graduate of Bolivar High School. After high school, Linda attended cosmetology school, although she did not stay in that field. Linda retired from Southwestern Bell after 23 years working in the accounting department. After her son was born Linda made a career at home taking care of her family. Linda began volunteering for Bolivar school system. She enjoyed taking care of the students, which led her to begin her next career as a Paraprofessional. Linda stayed working for Bolivar schools until she fully retired in 2009, after a battle with cancer.
Linda was known for her loving spirit. Her love was unconditional and people were drawn to her without fear of judgment. She put the special in special occasions. She enjoyed making cakes and cookie bouquets for her family and friends. Linda was an avid sports fan. Her favorite teams included Mizzou Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. Linda enjoyed spending time taking care of her flowers and keeping her yard beautiful.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Derald Joe Hood.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jim Ware; her son, Seth Ware; stepdaughter, Julie Lawson; brother, Larry Hood (Kay); nieces: Sheila Anderson (Kyle) and Angie Cox (Mike); nephew: Brent Hood (Ramona), and many other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank the nursing and care teams at Cox Medical Center South.
A visitation for Linda will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Pitts Chapel. Interment will take place at Payne Cemetery in Polk, Missouri, following the funeral service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Homes.
