Lois married my uncle Bob when I was like five years old. From the moment I met her, I adored her, and wanted to be just like her. I knew from the time I was seven I wanted to be a nurse just like her. I’m an RN today because of her. Uncle Bob would kid her and say “You know what RN means.? It means Really Nothing” - And they would just laugh and laugh. He had the deepest respect for her. Lois was an exemplary high honors nurse and also had taught nursing school @ the University of Iowa. She was filled with compassion, love, knowledge, dignity and dedication. Truly my inspiration. She adored my uncle Bob, and he her, you could see a love in their eyes for one another. They were blessed to have Laurie born to them, as she seemed to complete their bond. Aunt Lois had also enveloped uncle Bob’s elder daughter Linda (from a previous marriage) with her graceful accepting wide open arms. That’s just plain who she was. I would always say to her “You’re my favorite Aunt!” She would reply. “That’s because I’m your only Aunt!” We would laugh. But then I would say “if I had 100 Aunts you’d still be my favorite.” I believe she knew that. I honor her, remember her impact on my life and so many other others, and will miss her deeply…. Dick, Laurie, Katherine, Claire& families- She spoke so highly and loved you all so very much. I pray God gives you all comfort in peace.
