Lowell G. Bennett was born May 3, 1920. He was the son of James G. and Vada (Gardner) Bennett. He passed away in his home, February 19, with his family at his side. He was raised on a farm in Ozark County, Mo. He married his high school sweetheart, Velma Sanders. He was her devoted caregiver for nearly 71 years. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James G.; and an infant daughter, Anna Marie. Survivors include his wife, Velma; two daughters and their spouses, Sandra and Ervin Dock and Sharon and Darrell Reeds.; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II where he received a combat injury that resulted in a hearing loss. This directed him into his life time career in the hearing health care industry where he served for 40 years. Lowell was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed making furniture and toys for his family and friends. He was a member of Sunset Church of Christ. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, in the church located at 1222 W. Sunset, Springfield, Mo., with Joe Bright and Dwight Samuel officiating. Visitation will be held at Greenlawn East 3540 E. Seminole, on Monday, February 22 between 6 and 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fair Haven Children’s Home.
