Lynn Ann Carter,71 years of age, passed away Friday, July 26, 2024 at Cox South hospital.

Lynn was born July 22, 1953 in Morris, Illinois to the late Eugene and Marianne (Sage) Thompson. She was the third child of this union. Lynn was educated at Lyons Township High School.

Lynn was united in marriage to the late Richard Wilson in May of 1972, and two children were born from this Union’ They divorced in 1985. In 1989 Lynn married Rusty Carter until his death in February 2023.

Lynn retired from Wal-Mart stores after 31 years of service. In her free time, she loved to bowl, do puzzles and could play spades like a pro. Lynn loved to always have a good time.

Lynn leaves to cherish her loving memory to her children; Kimberly (Wilson) Smith and husband Brad, Richie Wilson, both of Springfield, step-son Tony Carter and wife Diane of Springfield; eight grandchildren; Kristian Dalmas of Springfield, Kyra (Gumm) Jones and husband Caleb of Sedalia, Missouri, Shawn Gumm and fiancé Nichole Mosley of Springfield, Kolton Root and girlfriend Ashlyn Walker of Bolivar, Missouri,  Breanna Wilson Avant and boyfriend Bendon Wooliver of Willard, Missouri, Tyson, Rylan and Ryder Wilson of Springfield; four step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren, Charlea, Ginny and Audrea Jones; and nine step-great grandchildren.

Lynn is also survived by brother Darrell and wife Joyce Thompson, brother Gary Thompson, and sister Jill Steffes, a number of nieces and nephews, all of Illinois.

Services for Lynn will be at 10:00 am Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 31, 2024 in the funeral home.
