Marc Earl McKinney, 76, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on December 30, 2022, after a long battle with complex medical conditions. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at Greenlawn North Funeral Home in Springfield, Missouri. The service will be officiated by Diana Spranger.

Marc was born on December 04, 1946, in Dubuque, Iowa, to his parents Max Earl McKinney and Anne Marguerite Woof. Marc graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1965 and completed two years of college.

Marc honorably served his country in the army with a tour in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He began working at the VA hospital in Des Moines Iowa in 1971, where he soon met his beloved bride, Barbara Egesdal. He then pursued his love for cars by working at two Chevrolet dealerships; George Wiite in Ames, Iowa, and Bob Brown in Des Moines, Iowa. In May of 1980, Marc began his career in the United States Postal Service in Des Moines. In 1982, Marc and Barbara moved to Springfield, Missouri to continue their postal careers. During his thirty years with the Postal Service, Marc received many meritorious awards. He served as Postmaster at Crane, Marshfield, and Fair Grove, Missouri. He retired from Fair Grove on October 1, 2007.

Marc and Barbara raised 2 beautiful children: Heidi and Jason in Springfield, Missouri. Marc spent many hours volunteering at the YMCA coaching Jason and Heidi in their various sports for 10 years.

Spending time with his family was the most important thing in his life. His love of drag racing and working on cars was shared with Barb and the kids. Marc enjoyed reading books, riding bikes, collecting coins, watching Cardinals baseball, and watching Chiefs football. Everything Marc did he did with passion.

Marc was preceded in death by his father, Max McKinney, his mother, Anne, and his sister, Myrna Rockey. Marc is survived by his wife, Barbara and his two children, Heidi Schmitz, of Ozark, Missouri, and Jason McKinney, of Chicago, Illinois. He also leaves in passing five beautiful granddaughters, Hannah (Schmitz) Kulyk, Jocelyn Schmitz, JennaAn Schmitz, Harlee Schmitz, and Sophie McKinney.

It is requested by the family that any memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Projects.
