Margaret Lucille Songer (Vanskike), age 89, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on June 20, 2023, in Mercy Hospital. Margaret was born to William Allen Songer and Bonnie Amelia Woodmansee on October 30, 1933, in Yuba City, California. She moved to Cabool, Missouri, at about five years of age and graduated from Cabool High School in 1951. Margaret attended Southwest Missouri Teachers College before she was united in marriage to Warren Mayfield Vanskike. They shared five children: Charles Allen Vanskike, Bonita Jilaine Wopp, Russell William Vanskike, Beverly Jo Kerr, and Karren Lucille Vanskike.
Margaret is survived by five grandchildren and spouses: Ian Lowrey, Jesse and Kimmi Kerr, Bobbie Watson, Charlotte and Robert Nolte, and Sarah and Andrew Beiser and nine great-grandchildren: Jilaine Nolte, Skyler Nolte, Roxas Nolte, Paisley Watson, Everlee Watson, Briley Watson, Addi Thomas, Eloise Beiser and Henry Beiser. Margaret was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Warren, and youngest daughter, Karren.
Margaret had many interests and hobbies over the years including gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking, baking, and reading. Nothing brought her more pleasure in her later years than baking cookies and pies for the congregant at Glendale Baptist Church.
A funeral service for Margaret will be held on June 27, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Greenlawn Funeral Home North (3506 N National Ave) with burial to follow at West Finley Cemetery in Fordland, Missouri. No visitation is planned.
