Margie Kay Lewis, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and art teacher, passed away on April 27, 2024, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of 67. Margie was born on September 20, 1956, and brought joy and laughter to all those around her. Margie had a passion for art and a great sense of humor. She shared her love for creativity with her students as an art teacher, inspiring them to express themselves through various mediums. Margie’s dedication to her craft and her students will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In addition to her career as an art teacher, Margie also had a talent for making people laugh. Her sense of humor was infectious and could brighten up even the darkest of days. She was every student’s favorite teacher. She was quite the prankster with her family and students, and it will be forever remembered and passed down to everyone that has had the opportunity to experience Margie’s silliness in some fashion. She will be greatly missed by her colleagues, students, and friends.
Margie was survived by her daughter, Lalena Nicole Lewis; daughter, Ariel Gabrielle Lewis; granddaughters: Baylee Corinne Samples, Malaya Gabrielle Hairston, Marley Ruby-Ann Hairston; and her significant other, Ronald Harris. Margie’s love for her family was immeasurable and she will be deeply missed by them.
A burial service will be held to honor Margie’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the United States Lighthouse Society in Margie’s memory. Margie’s legacy will live on through her family, friends, and students who were touched by her kind heart and contagious laughter.
We will always remember Margie for her unwavering love, passion for art, and ability to make us smile. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Margie.
