Marilynn Rose Charlton, age 94, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on May 22, 2025, at Lakewood Assisted Living. Marilynn Rose Charlton, age 94, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on May 22, 2025, at Lakewood Assisted Living. Marilynn was born to Otis Miller and Mary Miller on October 9, 1930 in Johnstown, CO.
Marilynn was raised in Southwest Missouri, near the town of Goodman. She graduated high school from Goodman and attended secondary education in Springfield, MO, eventually teaching school in a one room schoolhouse for several years. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, marrying her childhood sweetheart, Ernest Charlton, in 1955 while living in Anchorage, Alaska, where Ernie was stationed with the Army. Soon two boys, Daniel and Mark, were added to the family. After Alaska, Marilynn and Ernie spent a short time in Chicago. They returned to Missouri and operated a dairy farm near Halltown eventually moving to Buffalo, MO where they owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. Marilynn was a motivated and lifetime learner, later in life deciding to study law. She attended undergraduate classes at Drury College in Springfield, MO and law school at University of Missouri in Columbia, graduating from law school around the age of 50. She had a successful law practice and continued to work serving her customers well into her 80’s. Marilynn was a devout Christian and had a great love for our lord. She was an active member of many churches throughout her life and constantly shared her love of Jesus with friends and family.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her father, Otis Miller; mother, Mary Miller; sons Daniel Charlton and Mark Charlton; sister, Leota Miller. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane Charlton of Buffalo, MO; brother, Bob Miller of Buffalo, MO; brother, Loyd Miller (Rose) of Medford, OK; grandchildren, Matthew Charlton (Judy) of Springfield, MO; Annie Anderson of Buffalo, MO; Luke Charlton (Tanya) of Gravette, AR; Bradley Ruble (Amber) of Springfield, MO; Kristen Patino of Springfield, MO; great-grandchildren, Mykah Charlton of Springfield, MO; Catherine, Nicholas, and Michael Anderson of Kansas City, MO; Trinity Charlton of Fayetteville, AR; Josiah, Malachi, Levi, Uzziyah, and Phineas Charlton of Gravette, AR; Austin Williams, Catelyn Ruble, and Claudia Ruble of Springfield, MO; Isabella, Sophia, and Olivia Patino of Springfield, MO; great-great-grandson, Jasper Nevins of Kansas City, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Funeral Service for Marilynn will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North with a burial to follow at Red Top Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery located in Redtop, Missouri.
