It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Sue Reed, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, who left this world on July 5, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on December 8, 1949, in Santa Paula, California, Marilyn touched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, kindness, and deep love for her family.
She met the love of her life at Church when she was in grade school. They married on October 25, 1967. She attended High Street Baptist Church since birth. She gave her heart to the Lord at a young age. She sang and traveled with the Singing Teens at High Street. She also sang in the choir for many years. Marilyn dedicated much of her professional life to serving as an office manager in the medical field, where her organizational skills and attention to detail made a lasting impact. However, her greatest joy came from the moments spent with her loved ones.
She had a passion for sewing, creating beautiful treasures that will be cherished by her family for years to come. Marilyn’s engaging spirit and playful laughter filled every family gathering, most especially those spent with her grandchildren, who adored her deeply. She loved reading stories and singing to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a light for Christ to all who met her and knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Truman and Mary Duff and her beloved sister Carolyn Bruner.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Reed; her cherished daughter, Karla Hoffeditz; and her beloved son, Christopher Reed. Their lives are forever enriched by her love and guidance, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in their hearts.
A graveside service will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield on July 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM, where Marilyn will be laid to rest. Services have been entrusted with Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
Marilyn Sue Reed’s legacy of love, creativity, and family commitment will remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate enough to share in her life. May she rest peacefully, surrounded by the warmth of her memories and the love she so freely gave.
