Marjorie Ann Blankenship, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at the Gardens Assisted Living on August 18, 2025, at the age of 90. She had been a resident there since February.
She was born in Marshfield, Missouri, on March 15, 1935, to Joe and Anna Bateman. After graduating high school, Marjorie married Noel Blankenship, who was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. Shortly after the birth of their first child, Vickie, they moved from Alaska to Springfield, Missouri, where they lived in the same home for 70 years.
Marjorie worked at Royal McBee, where she helped make typewriters. When the plant closed, she went on to work at Zenith, assembling televisions, until her retirement.
Marjorie was saved at an early age, and she and her husband Noel were charter members of South Haven Baptist Church. If she wasn’t at home, you could almost always find her at church. She served faithfully-helping with Wednesday nigh meals, volunteering during Marketplace, providing food and snacks at Mark Twain, and assisting Noel with senior adult trips, just to name a few.
Outside of church, she enjoyed attending MSU Bears basketball games, canoeing with church friends, and watching sports on TV-especially college basketball and of course, the Kansas City Chiefs.
She cherished time with her family and was always there to support her daughter in any way she could. Marjorie created treasured memories and traditions that continue on through her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Noel; her daughter, Debra; her parents, Joe and Anna Bateman; her brother, Bob Bateman; her sisters, Judy Politte and Janie Peak; and her son-in-law, Mark Killingsworth.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Vickie Killingsworth; her grandchildren: Aaron Killingsworth and wife Lindsay, Sean Killingsworth and wife Shaunda, Ashley Andrews and husband Brandon, Kurt Killingsworth and wife Kate, and Brett Killingsworth and wife Aleck.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Caedman Killingsworth; Kaedance, Kye, Kaymbria, and Kinnet Killingsworth; Nora, Lawson, Nolan, and Roman Andrews; and Koley and Kove Killingsworth.
Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Betty Williams.
