
Martha Thomas November 14, 1937 – November 2, 2022, Martha Jane (Phillips) Thomas made her journey to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 2nd. Martha was born November 14, 1937, at home in Breedon, Missouri to Ross and Hazel Phillips. Martha (Marthey) loved her family more than anything in the world. She had two beloved sisters, Peggy Brake and Frieda Cornelison. On October 24th, 1951, she married the love of her life, Wesley “Arol” Thomas. They were married 55 years before his passing in 2006. Arol and Martha had four children. Martha is a long-time member of Baptist Temple in Springfield. She loved the Lord and witnessing to others about his saving grace. Martha worked outside the home in various professions. She was an avid garage sale shopper. Her granddaughters affectionately dubbed her the “GS Queen”. She loved taking her granddaughters to tea rooms and would often sip her Dr. Pepper with her pinkie finger up in the air. She had a sense of humor and loved making her family laugh. Family gatherings were one of her most loved times. Waiting on other’s needs, she was always the last to sit down to eat and the first to get up to clean. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, and her daughter Pamela. Martha leaves behind her son, Marty Thomas and fiancé, Teri Mecumber; her son, Arolin Thomas and wife, Melanie; her daughter, Sonya Wise and husband, John. She leaves behind her grandchildren Meegan Moore and husband, Charles; Brandi VanAntwerp and husband, Rick; Rachel Steele and husband, Kristopher; Ashley Garoutte and husband, Josh; Benjamin Thomas and wife, Katelynn; Lydia Pearson and husband, Tyler. She also leaves behind ten great grandchildren: Samantha, RJ, Leo, Remington, Rhys, Charlie, Axl, Kyndling, Trinity and Brody. She leaves many nieces, nephews, and family members she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 North National, Springfield, MO. With Visitation Sunday, November 6, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, and the Funeral Service Monday, November 7th, at 10:00 am. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
