Mary “Coquetta” Singleton, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on July 7, 2025, in her daughter’s home, after several months on hospice care. Coquetta was born to D.J. “Potsy” and Louise (Wilson) Montgomery on September 27, 1938, in Egypt, Arkansas, Craighead County. She graduated from Bay High School in 1956 where she played on the girls’ basketball team and was a cheerleader. Coquetta and Richard Singleton were united in marriage on November 14, 1964, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Coquetta and Richard shared 60 years of marriage before his passing on February 2, 2025.
Coquetta was reunited in heaven with her grandparents, parents, husband, brother, Bob Montgomery, nephew, Bobby Montgomery, and son, Robert “Stevie” Littleton. She is survived by daughter, Kathy Johnston and her husband, Troy; son, Ed Singleton; four grandchildren: Lindsey McDonald and (Bryan), Tanner Johnston and (Cassidy), Zach Singleton, and Avery Singleton; and great-grandson, Cooper Johnston.
A visitation will be held on July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the life of Coquetta, in person, or via the online link provided, available until August 11, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Coquetta’s memory to The Gideon’s International, Billy Graham Evangelism Association, or Samaritan’s Purse.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri.
