Mary Louise McQuerter- Cook, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the age of 99. Born on June 14, 1926, on a farm North of Willard, Missouri, Mary was the cherished daughter of loving parents who instilled in her a strong sense of family and values that she carried throughout her life. Growing up on a farm, she was a true “daddy’s girl,” often reminiscing about the joy of galloping on their saddle horse and the close-knit bonds she shared with her family. Mary married Kenneth McQuerter and 3 amazing children, Kathy, Rex and Ken who has since passed.
Mary excelled in school and developed a love for learning, earning college credits before embarking on a meaningful career as a surgery tray technician at Cox North Hospital. Her dedication to her role in healthcare was matched by her commitment to family, which remained her greatest treasure.
In her later years, following her retirement, Mary moved in with her daughter Kathy, where they created new memories together. She frequently visited Silver Dollar City with her younger sister, enjoying the joy of small-town festivals that brought them both happiness. As the years passed and her siblings departed, Mary cherished weekly family gatherings filled with laughter, meals, and lively board games. It was not uncommon for her to inquire, “Are the boys coming by today?” eager to share her love and warmth with her family.
Mary is survived by her daughter Kathy Douglas, and her son Rex, 2 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Mary was greeted in Heaven by both her parents Ben & Effie, her son Ken and a Great Grand Child. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on July 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Mary’s life and the joy she brought to so many.
