Mary Lucille (Brown) Butler, 68 years old, Springfield Mo, passed away just as she was entering Jacobs Ladder on Tuesday January 14th, 2025.
Mary was born the daughter of Thurman “Buddy” Lee Brown and Evelyn Pearl (Griffith) Brown, on Friday March 23rd, 1956. She had suffered from many illnesses and had been on Hospice since December 2024. Prior to her illnesses that she succumbed to, Mary lived with her sister: Wilma Sue Kinkade and Nephew: Steve Lawson in Springfield, Missouri for over 20 years, where her sister Wilma Sue was her primary caregiver until Sue passed away July 2nd, 2022, where then Mary was taken care of by her Nephew: Steve & Great Nephew: Christopher Standiford with Hospice personnel to help in the home until the morning of her passing.
Mary spent her days with her family watching tv, loving and spoiling her cats and dogs brought her great joy. She loved to be outside no matter what the weather was. She enjoyed visiting with her family, talking on the phone, sharing holidays, and having picnics. Mary had a special heart that would find away to help her loved ones get food, clothing, or help in any way she could if they were in need and found a way to get them the resources they needed.
Anyone who knew Mary, knew that she was a unique woman who had special quirks we will always remember. But she also had a special love for Elvis Presley (as did her sisters). But Mary’s was special in that the day of her birth, the key headlines in the newspapers were of the release of Elvis’s new song: “Heartbreak Hotel” therefore she was destined to love him. She loved listening to and singing Rock and Roll and country music.
Mary is survived by three sisters: Cleta Souders, Virginia McCurtain & Deloris Elbiow, cousins, nieces, nephews, a great niece, and great nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her parents: Thurman “Buddy” Jerry Brown January 2nd, 1986, Evelyn Pearl (Griffith) Brown July 20th, 1996, her sister Glenda Brown, two brothers: Jerry Brown and Harold Griffith. She was also preceded in death by her niece Stacey Souders, three nephews: Mike King, Timothy McCurtain & Christopher McCurtain.
Funeral services for: Mary Lucille (Brown) Butler, will be held on Tuesday January 21st, 2025 at 7:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield Missouri. No graveside services will be held due to the wintry weather; however, Mary will be buried in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield Mo.
