Max F. Broadbent
Max F. Broadbent, 94, Springfield, Mo., passed away Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Christian HealthCare Center East. He was born February 17, 1916, in Beloit, Kan., and graduated from Beloit High. He served in the Army Air Corps and flew over 50 missions as a Bombadier in World War II. He retired from Springfield Laundry where he was Vice President of Production. He was employed there for 45 years retired in 1992. He was united in marriage to Hilda Irene (Hacker) Broadbent on February 8, 1958, in Miami, Okla. Max was a life member of the VFW 3404 and loved gardening, wood working and collecting antique irons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ella (Byrd) Broadbent; sisters, Pauline Ratteree and Barthena Draper; and one great-grandson. Max is survived by his wife, Hilda Irene Broadbent; children, James Butcher and wife DJ, Don Butcher, Cheryl Singleton and husband Mark, Mark Himebrook, Rebecca Broadbent and husband Charles Gilliland, William Broadbent; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery on April 7, 2010 at 1 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of Max’s life following the burial in the family home. We will miss you.
