Michael Roy Lane was born June 13, 1946 in Springfield, Mo. and passed away June 1, 2011 at age 64 in Davenport, Iowa. He was the beloved son of Roy W. and Wilma (Burch) Lane. Mike lived and worked in Davenport for 30 years.
Mike attended Springfield schools and graduated in the first senior class of the new Glendale High School in 1964. Soon after, he served 4 years in the United States Navy aboard the destroyers USS Calvert and USS Isbell during the Vietnam War where they saw action.
He began his career in computers at Union National Bank on the square in Springfield, Mo; he then continued at Empire Bank and also Commerce Bank, where he was instrumental in helping set up their 1st generation computer systems. He worked many years for Burroughs Corporation in Iowa. He retired from Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois, in January, 2010 after many years of service.
Mike is preceded in death by his father.
Mike is survived by his mother; a sister, Diana Lane Wray; a nephew and niece, Nicholas and Sarah Wray; an uncle, Harold Burch; an uncle and aunt, Ralph & Darlene Burch; many cousins; and other relatives and friends.
