She graduated from Central High School and Draughn’s Business College in Springfield. While attending business college, she met Russle Burns. They were married on April 26, 1947 at the Hamblin Baptist Church in Springfield. They were married 60 years.

Russle’s job with the Frisco took Mildred to several locations. They lived in Springfield, MO, where she had her first son David; Winfield, AL; Springfield, MO where she had her second son, Michael; Tulsa, OK and Fort Scott, KS. When Russle retired, they returned to Springfield to be near their families. Mildred worked as the Church Secretary at First Baptist Church in Fort Scott.

After they moved to Springfield, Mildred became an active member of National Heights Baptist Church and participated in all activities as her health permitted. She loved quilting, gardening, sewing and spending time with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russle; parents, Earl and Una Kilburn; and her sister, Lois Garrison.

She is survived by son David and wife, Randie, of Lenexa, KS., two grandchildren, Matthew of Denver, CO and Caitlin of Kansas City, MO; son Michael of Springfield, OR, and

sister Wilma Faye Nelson of Omaha, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
