Naomi Ruth (Fitts)Taylor, went home to her Lord and Savior on June 20, 2025 at the age of 96.
She was born on June 15th,1929 in Robinson, Illinois to Mabel Shidler Fitts and Harvey Fitts. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, Harold Taylor, 5 siblings, daughter -n-law Lori Taylor, son-n-law , George Crabtree , many other family members and friend’s.
She leaves behind a beautiful family legacy of six children: Kathy Yvonne Taylor Crabtree, Harold David Taylor (Shirley), Ronald Keith Taylor (Jodi), Verda Louise Taylor Younker, Ellen Darlene Taylor Conley (Dave) and Roberta Joyce Taylor Virden. Also 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren (and an 8th on the way in October), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Naomi resided in Clinton, Illinois where she married Harold Taylor in 1948. Together, raising their four daughters and two sons. In 1985 they relocated to Springfield, Missouri, then to Palestine, Illinois in 1992 and back to Springfield in 2013.
Naomi worked a variety of jobs in her lifetime, starting at 12 years old. Her favorite job was hand painting china for Stetson China Company in Lincoln, Illinois.
Her hobbies included sewing and crochet, painting, and cooking. She loved to swim, camp, and take road trips around the United States.
Her lifelong passion was her love for the Lord Jesus Christ and in sharing the gospel with others. She lead many of her family members to faith in Christ.
She was truthful, blunt and bold, never wavering in her faith. She was humble and generous; giving in times of abundance or in lack. She was loving and nurturing.
Naomi served in the Assembly of God church in Clinton, Robinson, and in Springfield. Teaching many Sunday school classes to both children and adults. She raised her family in church and faithfully gave to a few select ministries after she could no longer attend in person.
Naomi was a woman of prayer and Bible study. You could often find her on her knees in times of prayer with her Bible open. She was intelligent , funny, beautiful, and wise.
Naomi died peacefully in her sleep, in the home of her daughter Ellen in Springfield, Missouri; where she resided since 2014. She will be honored in a graveside service at Missouri Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday June 24th at 10AM. Her body will be laid to rest with her husband.
Naomi (aka mom, Grammy, Aunt Noni) lived a long and full, upright life. A matriarch and pillar, her impact was rooted in the eternal, and great will be her reward in heaven. There is no doubt she heard the words “Well done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord” (Mathew 25:21)
