Nathanael Shelby Schleigh Perkins was born on April 29, 1986, in Springfield, Mo., and departed this world on Saturday, February 20, 2010, following a tragic car accident in Springfield, Mo. Nathanael graduated from Glendale High School in 2004, attended Drury University, and was a current student at Missouri State University with plans to graduate in May 2011 with a degree in Secondary Education. He worked as a sub at Horace Mann Elementary School and Glendale high School as well as for the Residence Inn/Marriott Hotel. Nathanael will be remembered for his big heart and his love of children. He was a good friend to all and will be sorely missed. Nathanael leaves behind his beloved parents, Dale and Debbie; his sister Gabrielle and her husband, Brik Wilson; his sister Lacey and her husband, Billy Borchardt; his grandparents Donald and Dorothy Perkins and Evert and Gladys Lasswell; his aunts and uncles, Larry and Linda Lasswell, Tom and Sharlene Reed, and Carl and Brenda Perkins; his cousins Mark, Scott, and Justin Reed, Dionne Pallman, and Chris and Brandon Lasswell and many other family members. Nathanael was a lifelong member of Galloway Baptist Church. He was a Born again Christian. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole, with the funeral service Wednesday, February 24, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Potter’s House at 724 S. National Avenue, Springfield, Mo.
