Neva May Wooliver, 76, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, surrounded by her friends and family. Neva was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She will always be remembered for her kindness, servant’s heart, and Christ-like love.
Born on October 10, 1948, in Springfield, to Warren and Violet Counts. Neva dedicated her life to serving the Lord and those around her. She taught Sunday school at High Street Baptist Church and Crossway Baptist Church, to hundreds of kids for over 50 years, and ran a daycare out of her home for 25 years. Neva loved God and loved people more than anything, and was always looking for a way to help someone in need. When she wasn’t serving at church, you could find Neva donating her time to outreach ministries such as Freeway Ministries and Operation Christmas Child packing shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse, or hosting and feeding missionary families.
If you were blessed with the opportunity to know Neva, you probably received a card or two, or a hundred, in the time you’ve known her. One of her favorite things to do was to send out cards to encourage people in times of need, to celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, every holiday, and just about anything else you could think of. Neva sent thousands of cards in her lifetime, providing many with support and encouragement through all of life’s moments. Neva also loved her grandkids and was very active in their lives. She went to everything they were ever involved in; concerts, plays, dance recitals, and ball games.
Neva was preceded in death by her parents Warren and Violet Counts, and her sister Kay Rayburn.
Neva is survived by her two daughters, Missy (Jeff) Neas, and Shelly (Kevin) Cantrell; her grandchildren, Haley Sumka, Ryan Neas, Hunter Dancy, Addie DeCarolis, and Owen Cantrell; her great-grandchildren, Wyatt Dancy, Jack Dancy, Nyla Sumka, Gryffin DeCarolis, and Opal DeCarolis; and her siblings, Linda Swanson, Peggy Rikard, Eddie Counts, and Richard Counts; and many other extended family members.
A service to celebrate and honor Neva’s life will be held on Friday May 30 at 10am, at Crossway Baptist Church. The service will be followed with a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday May 29 from 5-7pm, at Greenlawn East. All are welcome.
