Oliver “Ollie” Harold Lueck, 91, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2022. Oliver was born in St. Louis, MO on November 11, 1930 to Oliver F. and Ivy A. (Van Horn) Lueck. Ollie graduated from Pattonville High School in St. Louis in 1948. He graduated from the St. Louis School of Aeronautics in 1949.
Ollie worked at Remmert & Werner Inc., servicing aircraft before joining the Air Force in 1951.
Ollie enjoyed a 36-year career in both the Air Force and the Missouri Air National Guard. He retired January 3, 1987 as a Flight Line Supervisor with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant with the 131st Fighter Wing then based at Lambert Field in St. Louis.
In the span of his career, Ollie worked on aircraft ranging from P-51 Mustangs to F4 jets.
As a child, he fell in love with flying watching planes on approach to Lambert Field. He also held a commercial single engine pilot’s license and loved to fly.
Ollie enjoyed the outdoor hobbies of fishing, hunting and photography. He loved dogs, could be found at air and car shows and was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was proud member of the Air & Mililtary Museum of the Ozarks. Ollie enjoyed giving tours and tinkering on old aircraft.
Ollie was preceded in death by his parents Oliver F. and Ivy A. Lueck.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Dolores (Sander) Lueck, daughter Linda Lucy and her husband Dan, grandson Scott Lucy and his wife Emily, great-grand children Reagan and Davis. He’s also survived by his sister Eunice Kohler and niece Sandra Fulton both of St. Louis.
A visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East Friday, April 22nd at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at 11:30 a.m. with burial at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Air & Military Museum of the Ozarks, C.A.R.E (Castaway Animals Rescue Effort) or the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri.
