Opal Harshman, age 93, of Springfield passed away November 20, 2010 at the Montclair, her home for the past seven years, surrounded by her family.
She was born November 29, 1916 in Jefferson City, Missouri the daughter of Lindsey and Rhoda (Morton) Thrasher.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Harshman on November 8, 1945. She resided in Colorado for many years before moving to Springfield in 1988.
Opal was dedicated to her family. She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook and homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Elma and twin brothers Earl and Ray.
She is survived by her two sons Dr. Richard Harshman and his wife Anita of Tulsa, OK and Dr. Kort Harshman and his wife Lori of Springfield; five grandchildren: Amber and Ryan of Tulsa, OK and Nicole, Ty and Taylor of Springfield; one great grandchild, Julian, of Tulsa, OK as well as many friends at the Montclair Retirement Center.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri under the direction of Greenlawn South Funeral Home.
