Oren William Sears of Bolivar, died July 25, 2009, following a short illness. He was born August 17, 1914, near Tunas, Missouri, the eldest son of Leaman Sears and Clara (Coatney) Sears. Oren married Geneta June Boyle on July 2, 1937, and Geneta survives in the home.
Oren was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Raymond and Dewey Sears; a sister Goldena Ritch; and two grandsons: Kenny and John Sears.
Their 72 year marriage produced three sons: Bob and wife Jannett of Peculiar, MO, Charles and wife Kathleen of Belton, MO, and John and wife Kay of Elkton, MO. Their union was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving Oren is a sister Nettie Polodna of Bolivar, and a brother Willis Sears of Lexington, MO.
Oren was a hard worker, farming for many years, working in the oil fields, and at numerous other occupations. Oren was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Army-Air Force. He was very patriotic, and together Oren and Geneta were major contributors to the recently constructed Veterans’ Memorial in Weaubleau, Missouri. He also loved to fish and go camping with his wife Geneta. Oren will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Pitts Chapel with his Grandsons: Waylan Sears, and Todd Sears, and Rev. John Pool officiating. Burial will follow in the Flemington Cemetery, with full military Honors by the AmVets Post 114 of Flemington, MO. Pallbearers will be: David Sears, Charles Sears, Lenny Sears, Ben Sears, John E. Sears, Jr., and Chris Rankin. Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Sears, Waylan Sears, John Sears, Charles R. Sears, and Bob Sears.
