Patricia Mae Sneed, age 77, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on January 27, 2025, at Cox South Hospital, following an extended illness. Pat was born to Howard Joseph and Belva Mae (McFarland) Wescott on November 5, 1947, in Anderson, Missouri. She was raised in Anderson and graduated from Anderson High School in 1965. Pat was united in marriage to Jack Albert Sneed on November 22, 1967, in Anderson. Pat and Jack shared over 50 years together before Jack’s untimely passing on April 4, 2018. The couple was blessed with one child, Ronald Max Sneed.
Pat was first employed as a waitress and then later as a poultry worker, where she met and fell in love with Jack Sneed. After they wed, she devoted her time and energy to her family and community. She had many interests and pastimes including dancing, sewing, painting, and travel. Nothing, however, brought her more fulfillment than being involved with community groups like the Daughters of the American Revolution and spending time with her family. She also built strong friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime. Pat will be remembered as a warm-hearted person with a fantastic sense of humor. She was often described by others as generous, creative, and witty. Pat leaves behind a legacy of commitment to serving the community, country, and family.
Pat was a vibrant soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished her grandkids and had a special fondness for hummingbirds and bluebirds, often collecting beautiful figurines of them. Her passion for quilts and barn quilts was evident in her home, which she decorated with her own creations. Pat loved taking road trips with her girlfriends, delving into genealogy, and playing Bunco with her beloved Bunco Gals. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (where she served as Regent of the Isaac Garrison Chapter in Nixa from 2015-2017) and the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865. She also enjoyed various arts and crafts. Her love for reading spanned from romance novels to historical nonfiction. She had a knack for gardening, and before her knee problems, she was an avid bowler. Pat also enjoyed selling Jafra cosmetics and decorating the house for every season. She had a gift for meeting new people and making friends. She also took pleasure in collecting gold carnival glass and Christopher Radko Christmas ornaments. Above all, Pat’s warmth and love for life touched everyone she met, and she will be deeply missed.
Pat was preceded in death by her mother, Belva (McFarland) Wescott; father, Howard Wescott; brothers, Bob Wescott, Elmer Rice, and Bill Wescott; sister, Delores Peterson; and her husband, Jack Sneed. She is survived by three sisters, Jeanette Brodie, Ramona Brodie, Sinda Wimpey, and Mary Ryckman; her son, Ron Sneed and his wife Cherie; and two grandchildren, Hannah Sneed and Logan Sneed.
