Patricia “Patty” Ann Breshears Warren, age 78, of Bolivar, Missouri, entered heaven Friday, December 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 17, 1947, in Goodson, Missouri, to Glen D. and Patricia (Pat) Love Breshears. Patty was named after her mother and has a granddaughter who shares the name Patricia.
Patty was saved at the Goodson Missionary Baptist Church in her youth. In her later years, she joined the Elkton Baptist Church, where she was still a member. She always relied on her faith. She said she could not have done the things in her life without God. A familiar saying of hers was, “Pray that God’s will be done.”
Patty married Gary Warren on August 28, 1966, at the Goodson Missionary Baptist Church. To this union, their two beloved children were born, Suzanne and Todd. Her life revolved around these three people all the way until her time of death.
Patty grew up in the Goodson/Halfway area. She graduated from Halfway High School. She went to Southwest Baptist College, now known as Southwest Baptist University, in Bolivar, Missouri, to pursue a music degree. She later changed to elementary education to receive her teaching degree. Throughout the years, she earned two master’s degrees and became a specialist in gifted education. Patty was a third-generation teacher and was very proud of that fact. She became even more proud as her daughter and a granddaughter entered the education field.
Patty taught her entire teaching career in the Wheatland School District for 33 years. She began her career teaching a combined third- and fourth-grade classroom and then moved to third grade only, until she was drafted into teaching gifted education. She developed the gifted education program for the Wheatland School District and was very involved in the gifted organization at the state level. Patty served as a mentor for many beginning-year teachers. She also taught at Wentworth Community College. In fact, she was at school teaching gifted when her first stroke occurred. She did not tell anyone and drove herself home, later having to fight her way back so she could close out her school year. After she returned from the stroke, she made the decision to retire. Patty’s philosophy was to always put the students first and to strive for excellence.
Patty was inducted into the Wheatland School Faculty Hall of Fame, and her third-grade classroom was dedicated to her in September 2019. There is a plaque honoring Mrs. Warren’s classroom.
Patty lived her life being very involved in activities. She participated in 4-H and band. In her adult years, she remained very active. She was a Cinderella Softball League president, Wheatland cheerleading sponsor, class sponsor, senior class sponsor—where she took many students on senior trips—dance grandma, and youth league basketball coach for her granddaughter. She loved doing genealogy and was a member of the Polk County Genealogy Society.
Her favorite role in life was being Grandma Patty. She loved her two granddaughters fiercely and was an important part of their lives. She was like another parent to the girls. Her life became even more magnified when her great-granddaughter was born. Patty could not wait until this Christmas; she was still shopping and planning for it at the time of her stroke. In fact, presents are still arriving at the door.
Patty showed great strength throughout her life. She beat cancer that left her with lifelong challenges, fought back after her first stroke, and dealt with other episodes that she continually bounced back from. She always worked hard to return to us. Her family knew she would bounce back from this last stroke, too. But Patty knew she was tired of fighting. She deserved to live the life that she desired, and her family honored her by following her wishes.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents and her baby brother, Kerry.
Patty is survived by her husband, Gary Warren; her children, Suzanne Mayfield and Stan, and Todd Warren, all of Bolivar, Mo.; her granddaughters, Brooke Lorscheider and Grant, Isabella Patricia Mayfield; and her great-granddaughter, Magnolia Lorscheider, all of Bolivar, Mo. She is also survived by her brother, Randy Breshears and Janice of Halfway, Missouri; her sister, Jane Stoner of California; and her brother, Terry Breshears and Tina of Tennessee. Her sister-in-law Jeanie Barnes and Charles of Buffalo, Mo. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews: Lynn Quennoz, Brent Breshears, Ashley Stoner, Alison Stoner, Jeff Stoner, Valerie Breshears, Kerry Breshears, and Brad Kern; and a special aunt, Aunt Esther Kimbly.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 29, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
