Paul Allen Long was born to Virgil and Helen Mae Long on April 2, 1950, near Rogersville, MO. He found peace and rest on November 17, 2013 after a long battle with COPD. Paul’s life goal was to make people smile. He loved to laugh and joke with anyone he came into contact with. He especially enjoyed spreading smiles among the staff and residents of Primrose Place Health Care, where he was employed as floor maintenance tech for 25 years. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one brother James (Jim) Long, and two grandsons. He is survived by his daughters: Jeanette Melton and husband Jerry of Ozark, MO; Missy Adams, Rachel Vaughn and husband Stephan; Lesley Wells and husband Adam all of Springfield, MO; one Son; Paul Long Jr (Sonny) and Jennifer of Waynesville, MO; Brothers; Virgil (Leon) of Strafford; Norman of Springfield; Donald of Rogersville; Bill and wife Carol of Pawhuska, OK; Jerry and wife Elaine of Texarkana, AR; Leroy and wife Gail of Willow Street, PA; and Darrell and wife Pat of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his sisters; Christine Harris and husband Kenneth of Springfield, MO; Mary Lou Cross and husband Charles of Springfield, MO; Betty Lock and husband Charles of Springfield, MO; Lola Dickens of Nixa; and Carolyn Hufft and husband Bob of Billings, MO; five granddaughters: Jessica, Hailey, Brittini, Lucinda, and Dallas; one grandson; Forrest, great-granddaughters; Maci, Riley, Haileigh, and Jaden; nineteen nephews, sixteen nieces, and many great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Paul will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, November 22, 2013, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 21, 2013, from 6:00-8:00PM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Burial will be in Ash Grove Cemetery.
