Ralph Thomas Clark, a devoted father, innovative creator, and cherished friend, passed away on January 26, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Born on July 7, 1950, in Martinez, California, to John and Gladys (Johnson) Clark, Ralph was the youngest of 14 kids: the 7th son, born on the 7th day, of the 7th month. Ralph leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and a spirit of service that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Ralph served as a Specialist 4 from December 1, 1970, until June 23, 1972. His commitment to his country was matched only by his dedication to his family. Ralph had 2 children, his beloved daughter, Tanea Laub, and his son, Eric Clark, who will carry on his memory and values in their lives.
Ralph worked as a Lineman/Splicer in the fiber-optics industry for Southwestern Bell, where he was recognized for his meticulous attention to detail and his innovative spirit. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ralph was a talented individual who designed and built his own home and held several patents, showcasing his creativity and determination.
Outside of work, Ralph was known for his playful spirit, particularly when it came to family gatherings. He had a passion for card games and was a mastermind of scavenger hunts—one Christmas, the family spent an entire day unraveling clues he cleverly crafted to discover their presents. His ability to bring joy and warmth into the lives of those around him will never be forgotten.
Ralph’s kind-hearted nature extended to caring for his mother, siblings, and countless others in his life. He had a remarkable ability to uplift those around him, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father, John Clark; mother, Gladys Johnson; siblings Donald Clark, Gladys Young, Margaret Duke, Ruth Ward, and Naomi Vick; and half siblings George Clark, Geneva Krantz, Laurel Symes, Allyn Clark, Marjorie Draper, Kenneth Clark, Rupert Clark, and Andrew Clark.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Tanea and husband Herb Laub; son Eric and wife Jessica Clark; grandchildren Kaitlyn Potter husband David, Angel Lindsey, Tyler Brady, Devan Laub wife Heather, Michael Clark; great-grandchildren Amber and Allita Potter.
To commemorate Ralph’s life, loved ones will gather for a visitation at Greenlawn Funeral Home East on February 4, 2025, at 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, followed by his burial at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
As we celebrate Ralph’s remarkable life, let us reflect on the memories that brought us together, the lessons he imparted, and the kindness he shared. His legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
