With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Randall J. “Randy” Tyler, who entered into the presence of the Lord on April 2, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on August 25, 1957, in Syracuse, NY, Randy was the beloved son of the late Anita Bunker Simonds.
Randy is survived by his devoted wife, Ellen Burke Tyler, and his cherished sons: Joshua R. (Candyce), Christopher S. (Stephanie), and Jesse B. (Erin). His greatest joy was his grandchildren—Brooke, Abigail, Joshua Jr., Autumn, Christopher Jr., and Benjamin—whom he adored. He is also survived by his siblings, Thomas Tyler (Karen), Tony Tyler, and Anne Ritter.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Randy served as a radio mechanic, embodying duty and commitment. Following his military service, he found great fulfillment as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a career he truly loved. His deep faith guided every aspect of his life, leading him to serve as a Royal Ranger Commander and to dedicate years to manning a nationwide prayer line, touching countless lives with his compassion and wisdom.
Randy found joy in life’s simple pleasures—camping trips with his young family, teaching his sons to fish, reading multiple books at once on his Kindle, and immersing himself in the Holy Scriptures. For decades, he maintained a disciplined workout routine in his basement gym. A lover of nature, he treasured traveling to places of natural beauty, always finding peace in God’s creation. Though quiet and reserved, his kindness and generosity spoke volumes, as he never hesitated to help those in need.
A Memorial Service for Randy will be at 1:00 pm Monday, April 7, 2025 at Greenlwn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday prior to the service.
Randy’s life was a testament to faith, love, and service. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
