Rebecca Ann (Brockman) Keehn, 72, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 25, 1953, in Lexington, Missouri, to J.D. Brockman and the late Esther J. Brockman, Becky lived a life defined by deep devotion to her faith and family, a generous spirit, and genuine care and compassion for others. She attended Sooner High School in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, through her junior year, then moved with her family to Springfield, where she graduated from Glendale High School in 1971. She earned an Associate in Arts degree from St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas, in 1973 and completed her nursing education at St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield in 1976. She went on to have a 45-year fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse with Mercy Hospital and its predecessor institutions.
Her love of travel and adventure began early as her father’s career in retail management took the family from Lexington, Missouri, to Chanute, Kansas; La Junta, Colorado; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas; Bartlesville, Oklahoma; and the final stop, Springfield. At age sixteen, shortly before moving to Springfield, she enjoyed a memorable three-week tour of Europe, visiting six countries and numerous historic sites.
On June 12, 1976, she married David Keehn, whom she met and began dating during her freshman year of college. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of marriage, building a home filled with laughter, resilience, unconditional love, and, at times, complete chaos. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a loving grandmother who delighted in every milestone and cherished every moment spent with her family.
Becky is survived by her husband, David; her three children, Jonathan, Alexa Farese (Frank), and Michael; her three cherished grandchildren, Ella Farese, and Harrison and Cohen Keehn, whom she lovingly referred to as “the boys”; and the mother of the boys, Aliesha O’Dell. She is also survived by her father, J.D. Brockman; her four siblings, Doug Brockman (Mary), Brian Brockman (Esther), Lisa Highley (Duane), and Kurt Brockman (Michelle); and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, kindness, sense of humor, travel adventures, artistic creativity, love of decorating and gardening, enjoyment of hunting for treasures at garage sales and thrift stores for her flea market booth, and her remarkable strength and resilience in facing colitis and Crohn’s disease.
The family is especially grateful to her friend and former colleague, Sherri Clift, whose nursing expertise and compassionate advocacy were an invaluable source of strength and support during the last few months of her medical journey.
Visitation will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Springfield on February 20, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again on February 21, from 10:00-11:00 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation or the Redeemer Lutheran Church Legacy Endowment Fund in her memory.
