Retha M. Blair, 101, beloved mother, passed away on March 3, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on February 21, 1924, Retha’s (Granny to all her family) greatest joy was her family.
As a mother of three, grandmother of five and great-grandmother of eleven, Retha was the heart of the family. Her Sunday dinners we will all remember as being the best. If asked what’s for dinner, she would say, “same old six’s and sevens” which would be fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, fresh made rolls, anything that was ripe from her garden and a dessert.
Each grandchild and great-grandchild has memories of when Granny would pull up a chair or sit them on the cabinet and they would help her make homemade rolls or pie crust cinnamon rolls.
Retha loved to be outside doing little things around her yard. She loved putting puzzles together, reading and doing word search books. She made quilts for each of her family all by hand. Her embroidery on pillow cases, dish towels, and table scarves were beautiful.
Retha is survived by her children Dona (Rodney) McFadden, Jimmie (Ivy) Blair, and Anita (Rick) Bookout; grandchildren Jessica (David) Allen, Nataleigh (Rob) Pounds, Stephanie Blair Montgomery, Cheree (Josh) Hokanson and Jeremy (Katy) Clopton; great-grand children Alivia and Rhys Allen, Caleb and Aubrey Pounds, Corben Blair and Cooper Montgomery, Bryant and Bryar Hokanson, Peyton, Paxon and Preston Clopton; sisters Shirley Finley, Dola Lee, Carolyn Burrell, Opal Burrell and sister-in-law Margaret Boles, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
An informal visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00 pm at the Pleasant Ridge Church in Fair Grove, Missouri with a graveside service in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if donations were made to Children’s Miracle Network-Cox Health in Retha’s name.
