Rev. Kenneth Ray Gaines, 81, was called home to be with Jesus Christ February 14, 2025. Kenneth was born in Lebanon, MO to John and Jewell Gaines on November 5, 1943. At the age of 10, Kenneth made his profession of faith in Jesus Christ. By the young age of sixteen, gave his life to preach the gospel for Jesus.
He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1962. Then going on to Baptist Bible College that same year.
Kenneth married Mary Truitt on June 11, 1966. They had one child, Kendra Gaines. Mary passed away December 8, 1976.
Kenneth served in the United States Army for two years. Later marrying Kathlene Postel. They had two children, Kristal and Karissa Gaines.
On April 7, 1990, Kenny married Kimberly Roberts, they were married 34 wonderful years.
Kenneth has pastored three churches in Missouri. One of them being Charity Baptist Church in Springfield for over 32 years and he loved every minute of it. He dearly loved his family and church family.
Preceding him in death parents John and Jewell Gaines, three sisters, Nancy Gaines, Judy Blankenship and Mary Meerbott, also a brother Billy Gaines.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Kimberly of 34 years of marriage, three daughters, Kendra Lowe (Brad), Kristal Hicks (Greg), and Karissa Nemeti. A sister Carolyn Walters (Kenneth) three brothers, Perry Gaines (Kim), Rick Gaines (Joy), and Darrell Gaines (Fran). Eight grandchildren, Austin Lowe (Taylor), Whitney Lowe (Jordan), Quinten Smith (Taylor), Jozlyn Wright, Eliott Hicks, Keninn Stephens, Taylor Stephens (Shaun) and Phoenix Smith, eight great grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Kenneth was a very special and caring man with a smile we’ll never forget. He had the gift of service and loved helping people. Kenny will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Looking forward to where we’ll meet again and spending eternity with you.
Services for Kenneth will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Interment with full military honors will follow at Lindsey Cemetery in Republic, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday prior to the service.
