Richard Bruce Singleton, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away in the home on February 2, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on April 10, 1938, in Lebanon, MO, to John and Ella (James) Singleton. Richard lived a life exemplified by hard work, faith, and commitment to those he loved.
For 37 years, Richard dedicated himself to his career as a signal maintainer with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. His work was not just a job to him; it was a way to provide and support his family. Richard’s love for his family was boundless, and he always prioritized their needs and well-being. A man of deep faith, he found joy in volunteering at his church, living out his beliefs through service to others.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Richard cherished his time outdoors, where he enjoyed the bountiful game that God provided. His adventurous spirit shone through as he created lasting memories, whether casting a line or sharing stories around a campfire. He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, three sons, Jerry Dean Singleton, Paul Douglas Singleton, and Robert Steven Littleton and his daughter, June Marie Singleton, as well as a brother, Mike Singleton.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Coquetta Singleton; his cherished daughter, Kathy Johnston and her husband, Troy; his son, Ed Singleton; four grandchildren Lindsey McDonald and (Bryan), Tanner Johnston and (Cassidy), Zach Singleton, and Avery Singleton; and great-grandson, Cooper Johnston; and his sister, Elaine LeJeune of Halfway, Mo.
A visitation will be held on February 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched many hearts with his kindness, humility, and unwavering faith. He will be buried in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service. As we reflect on Richard’s life, we remember not only the man he was but the legacy he leaves behind: a testament to love, devotion, and a life well-lived. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
