Richard Dean Greer, of Springfield, Mo, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 26, 2021 at age 57.
Richard was born on September 17, 1963 to Jerry Greer and Karen Greer Crom in Springfield, Mo. After graduating from Marshfield High School in 1981, Richard joined the United States Army. He served overseas in Stuttgart, Germany, where he lived many of his dreams.
After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1984, he lived in Houston, Tx before returning to Marshfield, Mo.
In the summer of 1986, he met Brenda at Pizza Inn, where she worked. (He loved pizza and she made pizzas; a match made in heaven.) They were engaged on September 18, 1986 and married on August 15, 1987.
Richard worked many places, but eventually made a career in the IT field. That career took him and his wife to Virginia, Kentucky and finally Ohio.
In Ohio, Richard and Brenda became foster parents and eventually adopted 3 children: Alexis, Kenny and Andrew. He loved being a father. He was a kid at heart and loved playing with them. He taught them so many things.
Richard became disabled after a stroke and returned to Springfield, Mo with Brenda, Alexis and Andrew. There he had time to pursue his passion of playing board games with his friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Elaine; grandparents, Ivan & Mary Ellen Greer; and David & Laura Evans. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Karen & Paul Crom; his father, Jerry Greer & his wife Cindy; his wife, Brenda, and his three children, Alexis, Andrew and Kenny; his sister, Kathryn (Rodney) Dyche; his sister, Cassandra (Poncé) Durr; his brother, Tony Crom; his brother, Dave (Lisa) Crom; his sister, Laurie (David) Webster; his 9 nieces and nephews, Justin, Hilary, Hayden, Hanna, Oriah, Cameron, Caleb, Leandra and Hannah; and 7 great-nieces and great-nephews, Brenton, Trysten, Denver, Abel, Atlas, Jaxon and Bryson.
